Grey was taken aback. He had not expected the Gnome to recognize him from a single look. He still wore his mask and had not used his mental energy attack on any of the Gnomes who had brought out their puppets.
"I'm surprised you know me."
Saying this, he removed his mask.
The Gnome caught sight of his face and his expression tightened. "So it really is you."
Grey realized then that the Gnome had only guessed and had not been completely certain. Before he could speak, the Peak Sovereign continued.
"But… you should be dead. Those two told us you would not leave the Magical Beasts' Forest alive." The Gnome's eyes moved from Grey to the bunnies still rampaging through the compound below, and his pupils widened further.
Without a second thought the Gnome turned into a blur and vanished.
