Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Departure

The morning sun shone faintly in the sky as the two made their departure. It was dawn, around 6:00 am, and Ketsueki was fast asleep beside his guardian. The boy snored quite loudly, and Leonidas had to hold back the urge to leave him behind. "If you weren't the whole point of this trip, I'de leave you on the road" Leo muttered.

The two crossed many landscapes as they made their way north toward the Beast Kingdom Capital. As they left the plains of Magari, they passed into the wooded forest of the Kesselia region. For two days they travelled the forest's lush paths, until these deep green hues were covered up by bright whites. The alttidude rose as the screeches of primates became the growls of wildcats, and the sunlight faded into the obscurity of falling snow. The powdered peaks and cliffs that they now taversed lasted yet another two days, and leveled out into a frigid valley. As the two neared northern Toukugakara they dawned their cloaks and raised their hoods, surrounded by a blanket of thick, foggy snow.

By the third day of crossing this terrain, Ketsueki grew tired of travel, eager to stretch his legs and sleep in a proper bed.

The boy turned to face Leonidas "It's been 6 days since we left Magari. How many days are we s'pposed to travel for?"

Leonidas smirked "Six."

Suddenly, the wind picked up greatly, and Ketsueki sheilded his face as Leonidas sat calm and unflinching. The two were met with a cloud of ice and snow, and as they cut through the swirling veil they could make out a sprawling wall of lights in the distance, shown a beautiful orangish-yellow in the darkness.

"That" said Leo "is Kyousu, the Beast kingdom capital city."

"Woahhhhhh" exclaimed the boy, leaning forward in excitement. "It's so preeetty."

"Yes, it is indeed quite pretty."

A glint of pride shown in Leonidas' eyes.
