The three of us ran through the fortress, refusing to talk about what had transpired moments before. I could still hear the sizzle of the flames in the room behind us. Each door we opened just led to more hallways and those hallways only led to dead ends. Seriously, who designed this place?
"Who designed this place?" Steven muttered under his breath.
I let out a small laugh, "I was just thinking about that. Seriously, why do these doors lead to hallways with nothing in them? What's the point?"
Felix chimed in, "Maybe to get in the way of people like us who're raiding the place."
Oh… yeah that makes sense.
I placed my finger to my chin, "Well just running around like this won't get us anywhere."
"Ain't that the truth. Let's stop for a moment and discuss what we know." Felix suggested.
The three of us slowed our pace and huddled into a small circle. This place was a complete maze so continuing how we are now would be the worst thing we could do. Plus we have no idea where everyone is or how they're doing. I can barely see Steven in the corner of my eye giving me a worried look. I guess I'm not doing a great job hiding my worry.
Felix cleared his throat, "Right, so we need to climb to the top of this place, right?"
Steven and I nodded in unison.
"Obviously finding the stairs for each floor might actually take us days so I propose a faster solution."
I crossed my arms, "And what's this idea of yours?"
Felix leaned over to look out the window behind me, "I've got wind magic so if I channel enough energy I can launch us up. Maybe not to the top but definitely get us close."
Steven gave an amused look, "Simple. I'm sure there's a catch though, yeah?"
"Aye. We'll get soaked with the storm going on. Also a chance of us getting hit by lightning since you two are carrying metal. I'll also end up burning through a lot of my mana reserve and will have to rely on my wind blessing for minor spells until we get into difficult fights."
"Wind blessing?" Steven raised his eyebrow.
His question caught Felix off guard, "Hah? Could've sworn I told ya two. I can use simple wind spells and control the wind around me without having to use mana. Of course stronger spells like my Gale Driver require me to use mana."
"Okay, okay. Let's get back on track. I like your idea. I'm sure we'll be fine so let's do it. Sure as hell beats just standing here." I said.
Felix nodded, "Aye."
The three of us walked towards the window. I unsheathed Genki and quickly broke it, watching as the glass shards fell down into the darkness beneath us. Using his magic, Felix caused all of us to levitate in the air and float just outside the window.
"Should just take a minute to finish charging up. We'll be going quite fast so brace yerselves, 'kay?"
I could see the window below us begin to pick up, causing everyone's hair to begin standing up. The breeze was kind of refreshing to be honest. Now wasn't the time to be enjoying it though.
"Alright it's ready!" Felix shouted.
"Then let's g-"
Before I could finish, The three of us were launched into the air followed by the sound of me screaming.
