Condensing mana was something Kan'na had done before. It's not actually a difficult thing to do. After all someone with perfected mana control could have mana take on solid properties to create barriers or platforms.
It was a bit more difficult to do this automatically, or to even automate the process itself. If you used a spell, it would only be a matter of time before the spell ran out.
"So we create a loop.", Kan'na explained as she drew diagrams in the air with mana, "A device that takes a bit of mana to jumpstart, it'll condense the mana into a more solid form. Then use that same condensed mana to fuel itself. Unfortunately this will be very slow and nearly inefficient."
"What? Why wouldn't this work?"
"Because condensing the mana doesn't improve its efficiency use. It just provides more mana in one location."
The cost of a spell to condense mana would take a nearly equal amount of mana in order accomplish this. It's nearly a 1:1 ratio.
