Chapter 337 - End of the War Part 1

PoV General Victor Dunberry

I stood before the beautiful young Bunny-kin and a Black Dragonic woman who was the Warcheif. Warcheif Isabelle and the much more interesting Supreme Commander Chelsea Loveknot are in charge of something much more dangerous. Something that nobody thought the beasts of the west would ever learn to do.

A proper army. An organized army.

That made her much more dangerous, and with an influx of spies and people in the Beast-kin Nation, the Empire was learning much more about her. Chelsea Loveknot was an interesting young woman with more offspring than some entire noble family tree, though she was making it even larger based on the information I had started to receive. With many slaves returning to the Beast-kin Nation, I started to receive some interesting reports.

Chelsea Loveknot was young, extremely young for everything that she had her hands on. In fact, the age at which she broke through to the B rank was something notable in itself. A journey through her own nation and into the Drwarvren Kingdom, where she took out a sizable force at C-ranked, which was extremely impressive, using an unknown spell that no one has seen since. Then to the Elven nation, where she was presumed lost among the base of those trees that Elves stupidly take pride in.

They should clean up the refuge of monsters on the floor of that damn forest instead of hiding from them at the top of those damn trees.

Those same Monsters kept them safe from intruding Armies because the Armies would be attacked by not only the monsters, they would be attacked by the Elves. No standing army would be able to keep formations to fight both at the same time while in that damn forest with massive trees.

Besides that, the woman before me lived on the floor of that forest for two years while there before being found. Then came back a B ranker only to be shipped off to the Demon Lands, where she fixed the damn diplomatic situation that no one knew about. Our Spy had been doing wonders when he was suddenly and inadvertently removed from position for the dumbest reason.

Nepotisum.

A Family member of the Bunny-kin line needed a place to earn experience, and so they sent her to the Demon Lands that they were in control of. And ruined a decade-long plot of the Empire by accident, discovered it, sent him home, and the ship carrying the prize back was discovered and intercepted. What was worse was that she had fixed the diplomatic situation our spy left in place, and now even Devils and Succubi were in the army assisting. The Illusions were something I started to learn about while going over reports, and they had done damage to the assaults the Empire unleashed upon the Beast-kin's barbarian army.

I wanted to shake my head out of these thoughts, but the woman in front of me had just done too much in a short amount of time. All the while, she was building up a massive Harem with both ordinary women and extraordinary ones. From the reports I received, she had this magnetism, and I looked at her long, flowing silver hair, and I could feel it. That Hair was full of Mana, and so was her body. More mana than she should have as a B ranker.

Her body seemed to be like a whirlpool, although at this point, there was no refining, which would be done in meditation.

The problem was that this woman had been dodging all my questions and inquiries about ending this war publicly. I smiled at her, and she smiled brightly in reply, and I held out a hand to her again, knowing that today, like every other meeting, was probably going to end in failure, and she took it with a smile still on her face.

One that sent a shiver down my spine, and I looked at the Warcheif, and I realized that something was going to happen today. Instantly, I damned the fact that I took over for the Duchess and her defection. I wanted to kill her once more, and I moved to sit down with the Warchief and the Supreme Commander.

At the table of negotiations, I had to keep my smile even after months of being led by the nose, no matter what I tried to do. But I was under orders from the Emperor himself. To end this war after getting our people back with the best deal possible, although speed would be enjoyed.

"Good Morning, Supreme Commander, Warchief," I said deliberately in the wrong order. Still, no one pointed that out, even after months of the slight diplomatic slight, and the Warchief and Supreme Commander smiled.

"Good Morning, General Victor Dunberry. I hope you slept well," The Commander replied, and I nodded. "Good, because after communicating back home, we have come up with a compromise that the Beast-kin nation that we could respect and that I believe the Empire would be willing to swallow." She said much to my surprise and pushed forward a stack of papers, and I noticed on the top there was a page just saying, 'Peace Treaty.'

It was weird, but I opened it up and started to read it, and it literally numbered the pages and had several pages to find things in the stack of papers. It was honestly astonishing that the Beast-kin could think of something like this. These were beasts barely better than pack animals, some of them.

I took a deep breath, and I started to read, and they leaned back watching, and I looked at the Supreme Commander.

The first page after this 'Table of Contents' she wrote was a summary of the document stack.

"This Stack of Documents is a-" A whole bunch of useless legal documentation that basically said that it was a peace treaty, and this is just a general explanation instead of the exact language. But it basically was, as I finished the explanation, I frowned because this was something that I had not been expecting from the beasts of the west. Although I should think this is coming from the Supreme Commander instead of the entire tribes of that Nation. She probably had the brains to put something like this forward, and I felt myself fall into contemplation. "Is this the entire document?" I asked myself to think.

"Yes, you can review it more for the legal language because the explanation you just read is more for you to understand generally." She replied with a knowing smile.

I nodded at that and continued to think.

These demands were Reasonable.

In fact, some of them were positive for the Empire, which I thought I would have to pry from the Beast-kin Nation through negotiations. It would return the soldiers that would be allowed to choose if they wish to go home or stay in front of a Beast-kin official and an Empire's official, declaring their intent, and would be allowed to live in that nation. It was something that made me think that some of our soldiers wanted to stay in the Beast-kin Nation, which was an interesting thought. Or maybe it was something they planned to back off on in the deal negotiations. It would be something to discuss with them. But it was showing intent, and the language would be more argued at this point.

Then there was the new Border, which we were sitting on now. This was something that I knew would happen, but I hated to make the land no longer part of the Empire officially. It was something we fought and died for, but now we have lost it. A massive hit to the economy, although Border City did have a massive undead problem because of that damn Necromancers guild problem years ago. They might have been destroyed from the face of this damn Empire. But they left a spell that needed to be researched an solved before we could lower the guard count.

Maybe when we take it back, the Beasts will have already solved it.

I chuckled at the improbability of that happening, and I took a deep breath. Honestly, the Peace Treaty before me was reasonable. Too reasonable, and although it had caveats in case the Empire tried to attack, and that any human slavers would be declared bandits instantly, it was favorable.

Very favorable. Almost too favorable, and so I made my decision. I had not come here thinking that we could talk through this so quickly, and I knew I needed to talk to the Emperor; this was something perfect for my needs.

"Alright," I said, not knowing how long I stayed silent, "We can move forward with this, although I will need some time to review the sheet and see if there were mistakes or changes in the language that we want changed and our changes."

The Supreme Commander stood suddenly and smiled, "I expected nothing else. See you in a week, read it over, and talk to the Emperor. Let's get this deal finished soon."

Then she departed along with her retinue, much to my surprise, leaving a thick stack of papers behind. The Beasts left us with a heavy stack of papers before leaving. They clearly were enjoying the position of power, and I gritted my teeth and sighed.

I will kill that bitch Duchess Greenwald one day for leaving me in this position.

"Gentlemen," I said, standing, and my Aides did the same, "We have work to do," I said, departing with one of my strategies, picking up the Peace Treaty.
