Chapter 157: A Door Opened
Black Moon Town,
Outer Wall,
Torug's POV,
The wolves at the perimeter hadn't stopped.
Below the wall, two busy orcs were talking in low voices, not aware I could hear them.
"...Mad things... the ground did that?"
"Very strange this time. Deeper."
"You think it's the Blood Horn clan? Some earth shaman maybe?"
"Blood Horn earth shaman is not this strange, she is very loud..."
Their voices faded as they moved along the patrol route.
I turned the tremor over in my mind again. The Aegis had registered something but couldn't name it. The wolves had gone strange before the tremor, not after.
Which meant a node had shifted or worse, collapsed. I ignored the Elite guards who had been following me like a shadow and confirmed with the system again.
[Mana node integrity at 61% and declining.]
That number had been sitting behind my eyes since the system flagged it. I don't know what 50% looked like. But I suspected I didn't want to find out.
