We entered the forest and immediately put our guard up when we heard rustling in the bushes.
Then, out came a limping red wolf pup with wings.
Isabel knew some healing magic, so she healed it. After that, the wolf wouldn't leave Isabel's side, so we decided it would become her familiar.
When we reached the village, we decided to go to the Academy. There was an entrance fee, but Master Eseaki had given us enough money to pay it before we left.
We hid our martial arts because it was rare to find people who practiced both martial arts and magic. We didn't want to draw attention to ourselves, so we decided to lay low.
Two weeks later, we learned the absorption technique.
During that time, we noticed that almost everyone at the Academy had a familiar. Since Isabel already had her wolf, my brother and I decided to go into the forest to find familiars of our own.
As we were walking, we came across a cave where a lion was fighting five wolves.
The lion was badly injured, so we jumped in to help it. We defeated the wolves, but despite our help, the lion didn't survive.
After the fight was over, my time of the month hit.
At first, I thought it would be the same as it had always been, but I quickly realized I was wrong.
My body had changed since coming to this world. Martial arts had strengthened it far beyond what it had been back home, and now my body reacted differently as it adjusted to that strength.
The pain hit much harder than I was used to.
I could feel my strengthened body tensing and adjusting, making every cramp feel more intense. It wasn't magical power or some special ability. My body was simply stronger now, and apparently that meant this was stronger too.
Great.
While I dealt with the pain, I decided to sit down and cultivate. If I was going to be stuck there for a while anyway, I might as well use the time.
Rell entered the cave to see what was inside.
When he reached the end, he found an egg that was ready to hatch.
Inside was a lightning lion.
Its base color was purple, with pink stripes that darkened into red. It also had wings.
Rell brought it back to me and said it would be better if I had it.
I took the lightning lion as my familiar.
Rell still hadn't found a familiar of his own, but we could continue searching for one later.
Then we headed back to the Academy.
ack to the academy.
