[Double Dungeon]
Upon seeing the army of porcupine monsters shooting their spikes from afar and slowly whittling down their numbers, Alex then couldn't wait any longer as he gripped tightly on his spear.
Of course normally following command and staying in formation is crucial in a battle in order to have a higher chance of survival, however for him who always fought freely and unrestricted, following such protocol was much harder than it looks.
Compared to when fighting freely together with Shun, he felt like a caged beast unable to rampage. For him there is an order of things and right about now, following protocol would simply drag more of its allies to their deaths.
As if fate had answered the question in his mind, before he could even react, the voices and shouts from the rear had grown louder, while fighting agaisnt the giant wolf spiders.
The moment he turned to look around and check what was happening behind their huge group, he was quite surprised to see Shun himself letting loose and bringing down one monster after another.
With him at the front with his Botrk on hand, he was simply murdering the monsters non-stop.
Not knowing that the other adventurers were watching him, Shun then rushed towards the huge Wolf spider(1) in front of him as he swung his Botrk and cut off its initial 4 front legs, once he done that, he then quickly spun around and sliced the Wolf spider's(1) stomach, before he jumped on its back and stabbed its head.
After that he then quickly pulled out Botrk from the Wolf spider(1) corpse, and immediately swung it at another Wolf spider(2) that suddenly jumped towards him, resulting in a clean cut that killed the monster.
Afterwards with his strength he then threw Botrk towards Wolf spider(3) from afar, causing the sword to spin like a Razor blade due to imbalance proportion of the weapon itself.
With such a sharp weapon flying across the field, it then bypassed some Wolf spiders and squarely punctured the head of Wolf spider(3).
Once that attack had killed Wolf Spider(3), Shun then run up towards the weapon, while dodging several attacks from the other Wolf spiders.
Quickly sliding below Wolf Spider(4), he then clenched his fist and delivered a powerful blow below it and launched the monster upwards to crash splat on the dungeons ceiling.
After that when Wolf spider(5) tried to ambush him from behind and tried to bite him, Wolf spider(6) also jumped in and tried to attack Shun from below.
Unfortunately with Reksai's Seismic wave detection, Shun immediately noticed the incoming attack from below, as he quickly snapped off Wolf spider's(5) fangs and immediately stepped on its head and stomped it downhard to the ground.
The moment he did that, Wolf spider(6) then finally emerged from below and accidentally attacked Wolf spider(5) with its fangs, which completely killed the monster.
After succesfully luring one monster to accidentally kill an another monster, he then crashed hard on the back of Wolf Spider(6), and begun tearing its body apart by continously stabbing its back using the fangs from Wolf spider(5).
After that Shun then dashed towards his sword Botrk which was stabbed deep into the corpse of Wolf spider(3), and pulled it out using only brute force.
Seeing this, the other adventurers in the rear got excited and begun charging towards the monster and breaking off formation. Just like the other Alex grew excited as he immediately flew off the formation and dashed traight towards the target porcupine(1).
In one quick stab from his spear, porcupine(1) was then immediately killed, as Alex quickly pulled it out and parried 4 spikes that flew towards him from both sides.
After that Alex flew off into the air and released a mouthful of dragon breath towards the army of monsters and killed porcupine(2), porcupine(3), porcupine(4), and porcupine(5).
After burning 4 monsters in one breath, Alex then dived down and killed porcupine(6) in a single slash from his spear, and immediately parried a multitudes of spikes that was shot towards him from a directions.
The moment Alex successfully parried all the attacks, he then immediately grabbed the corpse of porcupine(6) and threw it directly toward porcupine(7) which momentarily blocked its vision.
In the next second Alex tore through the dead corpse with a single powerful spear thrust and caught porcupine(7) by surprise, which resulted in a quick death, with the spear piercing through its head.
After that with pure strength, he then lifted both the corpse of porcupine(6) and porcupine(7), and smashed the dead corpse towards porcupine(8) in one single swift move.
With Alex taking the lead, the other adventurers at the front charged forward and begun targeting the porcupine monsters that had all their attention towards Alex.
With Shun handling the rear and Alex handling the front, it didn't take long until all the monsters are either taken out or had retreated out of fear.
With no more monsters trapping them in a pincer attack pattern, the huge group of adventurers then continued heading deep inside the double dungeon, until they reached an area where a whole field was littered with monster bones.
"What happened here? Did a massacre just swept pass this place?"
"Woah a graveyard of monsters"
"Not even flesh were spared, who could have killed these monsters?"
As the adventurers have various questions in their mind, the other high ranking adventurers begun to grew wary and even hesitate to enter this graveyard of monsters. After all whoever killed this monsters, was definitely still roaming out there.
"What shall we do?"
"I don't know... after that last ambush from the monsters, we can assume that the monsters inside this double dungeon had an intelligence similar to humans"
"But nothing will happen if we just stay here, we will be in a deadlock and we can afford that"
"The rations we have on us can only bring us so far, we will need to have someone enter that field and check whether there are dangerous enemies or not"
"Are you suggesting we send out a scout?"
"Do you have any better idea?"
After much deliberation, it was decided that one scout will be sent out to check the field for any possible danger.
Just like that news spread throughout the whole group and one volunteer popped out from the group and wrinkly entered the field.
The one who entered the field was a guardian class adventurer who boast its tough defenses against any attack. It was believed that with such a person, any ambush done by the monsters would not result in an immediate death.
With that the guardian adventurer then traversed the graveyard and waited for any possible traps and ambush. However after 5 meters, 10 meters, and even 20 meters of distance have been passed, there were still no signs of any attack from any monsters.
At that moment some even guessed whether the area was clear of monster since they all have died anyway, but the situation changed when the guardian adventurer reached 35 meters.
The moment such distance was reached, an attack from afar suddenly shot out from the deep darkness and targeted the adventurer who entered its range.
Of course as experienced adventurer, he then quickly raised his shield and blocked the attack using his skill and toughness of its armor. Once this happen, everyone immediately realized that there are indeed enemies hiding in the field and it seems that they only attack when their target reached 35 meters away from the starting point.
But just as they made that conclusion, it was then immediately flipped over when an enemy had suddenly appeared beside the adventurer and towered over him like a mountain.
To be exact the monsters was about 10ft tall and looked like a humanoid cockroach with 4 arms.
Before anyone could react in shock, the monster then decapitated the guardian adventurer which completely overwhelmed its defense with its immense strength and ate the head that it just cut off.
Soon after the cockroach body begunto mutate as tough armor appeared on top of its carapace, which makes the monster even more menacing.
