The little living room was full of warmth and laughter. Little Sunny was lying on his tummy in the cradle, staring at Joshua Emmett, and in no time at all Little Clementine and Joshua were getting along like old friends.
"It's been snowing hard these past few days, how did you get here? Technically, the road into the village should be closed and the cars stopped, right?" Jasmine Yale asked curiously.
Wearing his gold-rimmed glasses, Joshua Emmett looked gentle and refined. He smiled. "If I want to come, there are always all kinds of ways."
"Don't tell me you climbed over the mountain to get here?" Jasmine joked.
"I did climb Averest back in college, but I'm not that extreme." Joshua said. "I had my driver bring me. The car was going slow, and the road was rough the whole way, all slippery."
"That's too dangerous. You should've waited till the weather warmed up a bit before coming."
"If I waited for warmer weather, wouldn't Little Clementine's birthday already be over?"
