Ascension of God Nyokael

Ascension of God: Nyokael [Kingdom Building] [Dark Fantasy] [Power at a Cost] Nyokael Damarcus Kha'Orun was nineteen when they handed him Frey — a border kingdom with broken walls, chained souls, and knights who no longer bother kneeling. The Vein-stream runs under everything: rivers of power any strong enough hand can bend. Bend it enough and your mind starts to slip. Bend it more and you forget your mother's face, then your own name. Every wielder in Aeltharion is trading pieces of themselves for reach, and most don't notice until the mirror stops answering back. Nyokael doesn't want a throne. He doesn't want revenge. He wants to know what's inside him — because it isn't supposed to be there, and it isn't supposed to be waking up. Frey is dying by inches: frozen supply lines, empty granaries, walls with more gaps than stone. He has to make it breathe again before the empires watching from the south decide a corpse kingdom is easier to carve than a living one. He is calm in rooms where calm gets people killed. He remembers things that happened on a world that isn't this one. And somewhere under his own ribs, something old is starting to remember its own name. When it does, Frey will need walls that can survive what climbs out of him.
