Vampire or Ex love
Prologue:
The first thing I heard was a child crying.
Not loudly.
Not anymore.
It was the soft, broken sound of someone who had already cried until there were no tears left.
I opened my eyes.
Darkness.
I tried to move, but my body wouldn't obey.
Someone was holding my hand.
A small hand.
Warm.
Shaking.
“Please don't leave me.”
The voice was tiny.
My heart clenched.
I tried to answer.
Nothing came out.
I couldn't see the child's face.
I couldn't even remember why I was there.
Then I heard another voice.
A man's voice.
Cold.
Urgent.
“It's too late.”
“No.”
The word left my lips before I even knew I could speak.
“No, please.”
Something warm slid down my cheek.
I didn't know if it was blood or tears.
I only knew that I was terrified.
The child's hand tightened around mine.
“Mommy…”
My breath caught.
Mommy?
I tried to pull the child closer.
I couldn't.
My body felt impossibly heavy.
The darkness around me began to swallow everything.
The man's voice became distant.
The child's crying faded.
And just before everything disappeared, I heard one final sentence.
“You have to forget.”
I wanted to scream.
I wanted to fight.
I wanted to remember.
But the darkness won.
“Bella.”
My eyes snapped open.
I gasped for air.
I was sitting upright in my bed, my heart pounding violently against my ribs.
I looked around.
My room.
My life.
Everything was exactly where it was supposed to be.
I pressed a trembling hand against my chest.
A nightmare.
Just a nightmare.
At least, that's what I told myself.
Because there was no way I could have forgotten something that had never happened.
Right?
